Shopify storefront audit

Every audit covers nine interconnected areas of storefront UX: buyer experience and conversion paths, navigation architecture, mobile responsiveness, visual design and brand trust, product page effectiveness, cart and checkout flow, content hierarchy, site-wide consistency, and accessibility. We evaluate each area through structured heuristic analysis grounded in e-commerce UX research from Baymard Institute, Nielsen Norman Group, and Google.

A Spruce Pixel storefront audit is an expert review of your Shopify store's user experience, designed to uncover the friction points that cost you sales. We evaluate your store the way a first-time buyer experiences it, on both desktop and mobile, and deliver a prioritized report with research-backed findings and clear action steps. Whether you need a full ecommerce UX audit or a focused review of a specific area like your product pages or checkout flow, every audit is tailored to your store.

Buyer experience and conversions

We review your homepage flow, product pages, cart, and checkout for anything that creates hesitation or friction. From missing trust signals to unclear calls to action, we identify what's standing between a visitor and a completed purchase.

Navigation and store structure

We assess how easy it is for buyers to find what they're looking for. That includes your menu structure, collection organization, search functionality, header, and footer. If your store makes people think too hard, they leave.

Mobile UX and performance

Most of your buyers are on their phone. We review your store on mobile first, checking for responsive issues, slow page loads, tap target problems, and anything that degrades the shopping experience on smaller screens.

Visual design and brand trust

First impressions happen fast. We evaluate your store's visual consistency, content pages, typography, spacing, and overall polish. We flag anything that undermines a new visitor's confidence in your brand.

What to expect

Your Storefront Audit is tailored to your store's needs, whether that's a focused look at a specific area or a review of your full storefront. Each finding is categorized by priority level (high, medium, low) so you know what to fix first. Recommendations are grounded in e-commerce UX research from leading sources including Baymard Institute, Nielsen Norman Group, and Google, and paired with annotated screenshots from your actual store.

Audits are delivered as a detailed, professionally designed report. No calls, no meetings, no fluff. Just a clear Shopify store audit you can hand to your developer or work through yourself.

Pricing starts at $700 CAD and is based on store size and complexity. After reviewing your intake form, we'll send a proposal with the confirmed price before any work begins.

Frequently asked questions

How does the process work?

We keep it simple. You fill out a short intake form, we review your store and follow up within 1 business day with a proposal and confirmed pricing. Once payment is received, we get to work. Your completed audit is delivered as a PDF.

Who actually reviews my store?

Every audit is reviewed by Andrew and Kris, both former Shopify employees with a combined 14 years of experience across theme development, technical support, and UX auditing for Shopify Plus merchants. No AI-generated reports, no outsourced reviewers.

How long does an audit take to complete?

Most audits are delivered within 4 to 7 business days after payment. Larger or more complex stores may take slightly longer, and we'll let you know upfront if that's the case.

Do you need access to my Shopify admin?

No. Our standard audits are based on the customer-facing experience of your storefront. We review your store the way a real buyer would. If a deeper review requiring admin access would be beneficial, we'll discuss that with you first.

What if my store only needs help with one area?

That's completely fine. If you have a specific concern like your product page or checkout flow, let us know in the intake form and we'll scope the audit to focus on what matters most.

Can you help implement the changes from my audit?

Our core service is the audit itself, but depending on the scope of what's needed, we may be able to help. Whether it's theme adjustments, navigation restructuring, or visual updates, we're happy to discuss it after your audit is delivered. We also offer graphic design, illustration, and branding work through our team. Just let us know what you need and we'll let you know if we're the right fit.

How is this different from a free Shopify audit tool?

Free audit tools run automated checks on technical SEO and page speed. Our storefront audit is a human-led UX review. We evaluate your store's design, navigation, product pages, cart, checkout, and mobile experience against established ecommerce UX research from Baymard Institute, Nielsen Norman Group, and Google. Automated tools can't assess buyer psychology, visual hierarchy, or trust signals the way a trained eye can.

What's the difference between a UX audit and a CRO audit?

They overlap significantly. A CRO (conversion rate optimization) audit typically focuses on data and A/B testing. Our Shopify storefront audit is a heuristic UX evaluation. We review your store against research-backed usability standards to identify what's creating friction for buyers. Many of the improvements we recommend directly impact your conversion rate, but our approach is rooted in UX research rather than analytics dashboards. If you're searching for a Shopify CRO audit or a Shopify conversion audit, our service covers the UX side of that equation.
